bad day

I woke up a little late and rushed extra-fast to get ready and leave ten minutes early, so I’d make it to my Bio quiz in plenty of time.  (Note: I don’t always make it to my Bio quiz at all – it’s in the first 5 minutes of class and sometimes even before class starts – and if I want my grade to improve, I should probably fix that.)

In my rush I managed to forget my Personal Money Management homework, which I finished last night, but I told myself that I could just call Dan and he’d read it to me over the phone.

Driving through Napa on my way into PUC, I ran over something, and it made a weird noise as it bounced off my car.  I was concerned and thought about stopping to check on the car, but I was on a mission to get to my quiz, so I kept driving.

Right outside Napa, the car started driving… funny; I don’t know how else to explain it.  I remembered the wayward object from earlier and decided I really should check.  And sure enough, an inspection of the car revealed that my passenger-side rear tire was flat.  Well, was it flat?  It looked flatter than the other tires, but I called my dad to make sure.  He instructed me to call Triple A, which I did, after pulling into a nearby vetrinary clinic parking lot – so I wasn’t blocking the narrow bike lane. =P

In an amazing combination of confusion between AAA and the towing company, the driver somehow ended up on the wrong Silverado Trail (and I didn’t even know there were two!) and nowhere near the vet clinic, whose name I gave to AAA.  Eventually he figured it out, though, and my tire was changed quickly and easily – that is, after we located the spare bike tire under a maze of carpets and plastic pieces, in the bowels of the Prius.  (But that’s okay – if it was the Honda I’m not even sure it has a spare!)  The driver assured me that I could make it to PUC and even back to Vallejo on that tiny tire as long as I didn’t drive too fast, so I stuck to 55 and only wobbled a little bit on my way up the hill. Of course, now I have to figure out if the bad tire can be fixed, and where, and then pay for it… *sigh*

I managed to make myself look stupid not once, but twice in my English class.  People probably wonder why I don’t just drop out of school.  I swear, I’m not as stupid as I sound or look… really!

Oh, and I never did get ahold of Dan, so I just finished doing my homework all over again in the library computer lab.  If I hurry, maybe I’ll get to eat lunch (I’m starving!) before class.

If anything else bad happens today, I will be quite vexed.
